The events in Washington on Wednesday made me think of quotes from two different people from different times: Will Rogers, famed American cowboy, humorist, and columnist from almost a hundred years ago, and Lindsey Graham, recently re-elected senator from South Carolina.

Rogers said, โ€œThere are men running the government who shouldnโ€™t be allowed to play with matches.โ€

Graham said at the 2016 Washington Post Club annual congressional dinner, โ€œIf you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, nobody would convict you.โ€

Until lasts Wednesday one had to assume Graham was referring to another senator doing the deed.
