It’s “deja vu all over again” as was done before the Iraq War. Now we intervene in the affairs of Venezuela, another sovereign nation, under the guise of “humanitarian aid” and with the help of manufactured consent cultivated by our corporate controlled “free press.” Just substitute “aluminum tubes” for humanitarian aid this time.

Our man in Caracas, Juan Guaido, is a puppet of U.S. corporate interests; our embargo of its oil revenues and our economic sanctions have intentionally turned a difficult time for Venezuela into a humanitarian crisis we are using to get rid of a “socialist.” Maduro is corrupt, and should leave, but there are constitutional ways for Venezuela to go about it – without U.S. intervention.

There are two “tells” here: the presence of war criminal/convicted felon/liar to Congress Elliott Abrams on the scene, and the fact that Chevron and Halliburton have continued their “operations” in Venezuela. We wouldn’t care a whit about Venezuela if not for its oil reserves. Life for ordinary Venezuelans got better under Chavez and Maduro. Our Venezuelan intervention, and the manufactured consent created to support it, constitute a warning to all who believe in democracy and self-determination: “We will break you.” This is who the United States really is. And the same process may play out here as well, as President Donald Trump recently threatened.

Venezuela is the newest “warning shot” to all those pushing for progressive, “socialist” ideas that would confer concrete material benefits on other than the 1 percent: “We will break you.”
