The presidential election is rightfully on our minds after the Democratic convention, but we cannot underestimate or take for granted local races.
Local elected officials are in unique positions because they can truly work at a grassroots level and engage with communities. I value proactivity, listening, and a candidate who is not afraid to learn. I value a candidate who is willing to reach out and hear constituents’ concerns. Becky Whitely encompasses each of these qualities and strives to improve our community, not for the most privileged, but for everyone. On Sept. 8, I will enthusiastically cast my vote for Becky Whitley for New Hampshire Senate.
Becky cares about and has worked on the issues I care about, including climate action, disability rights, gun violence prevention, education, and racial justice. She doesn’t just talk about these issues, she takes action at the community level and enacts actual change. For example, Becky worked with a local coalition to prevent a gun range from opening just seconds away from the local middle-high school. Becky has not only attended Black Lives Matter rallies, she’s actually developed and advocated for policies to dismantle oppressive systems and support Black students and students of color. Becky has worked as a climate activist and empowered people to hold their elected officials accountable.
As a lawyer, mom, and community leader, I’m confident Becky will take action to improve the lives of all Granite Staters. Join me in voting for Becky Whitley on Sept. 8.
