A mix of rain, snow, sleet and ice led to a number of car crashes on New Hampshire roads and affected traffic at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, where a FedEx plane slid while taxiing, authorities said Wednesday.

The National Weather Service put out a winter weather advisory for the state until 1 p.m. Warmer weather eventually turned the freezing precipitation into scattered showers.

“Mixed precipitation including snow and ice statewide. Please slow down and use caution when traveling,” the state Transportation Department said in a statement.

Major roads were among those affected, including Interstate 93 southbound, which was closed south of Hooksett because of icy conditions and multiple crashes, state police said.

The intersection of Interstates 93 and 89 in Concord was also clogged in the morning with cars stopped on the highway.

The airport temporarily closed all taxiways and runways in the morning after the FedEx plane slid while taxiing for departure, WMUR-TV reported. The aircraft’s left wing was damaged. Dozens of cars and trucks were seen pulled over on highways.

There was no immediate reports of injuries resulting from the crashes and spinouts.
