New Hampshire’s Department of Environmental Services recently settled with Casella’s North Country Enviornmental Services for $1.9 million to settle 29 counts of landfill operating violations, but the penalty is far below the potential penalty of over $100 million, and the state Senate is now proposing an amendment to HB707 that would allow Casella to continue operating its landfill and build a new one.
