Eight-year-old killed in head-on crash on Route 106 in Loudon

An eight-year-old child died following a head-on car crash on Route 106 in Loudon Friday night.

State police said a Toyota 4Runner driven by Stacy Sargent, 52, and Mazda 3 driven by Philip Sparacio, age 36, collided around 6:30 p.m. 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the Mazda 3 had been traveling south when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Toyota 4Runner which was headed north,” State Police said.

Three people, including two children suffering from life-threatening injuries in the Mazda 3 were transported to the hospital. An eight-year-old child was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two people in the 4Runner were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Loudon Police Department, Loudon Fire and EMS and emergency crews from surrounding communities responded to the scene.

Loudon Police requested the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction unit to help with the investigation. Route 106 was closed for several hours while emergency crews tended to the wounded and investigated the cause of the fatal crash.
