D-II Girls’ Soccer Quarterfinals

No. 2 Pembroke 2, No. 7 Souhegan 1

Key players: Pembroke – Kayla Paquin (G), Maddie Bailey (G), Adrienne Dorr (A), Hannah Brown (midfield), Britney Hill (midfield), Nikki Nedeau (defense)

Highlights: The Spartans started fast as Paquin scored in the fourth minute, but Souhegan tied it up on a shot from outside the box that tipped off the hands of keeper Katelyn Young. Bailey scored the game-winner through traffic in the box off a Dorr cross. The Spartans withstood heavy pressure from the Sabers throughout the second half to hold on for the win and stamp their ticket to the final four.

Coach’s quote: “The girls have been excited to get back to work since the regular-season finale on Oct 19. We played hard and strong to get ahead and stay ahead this afternoon, and I’m so proud of their effort and teamwork.” – Pembroke’s Jess Kaufman

Records: Pembroke 13-1-3; Souhegan 12-6-1
