Girls’ Basketball

Pinkerton 48, Concord 30

Key players: Pinkerton – Ava Ingalls (21 Points); Concord – Elli Cox (9 points), Sofie Fune (6 points)

Highlights: Concord struggled on both sides of the floor. Neither team could really find a rhythm in the first quarter, but foul shots by Pinkerton allowed them to take the lead 13-3. Pinkerton pulled away in the second and third quarters, but the reserves for Concord were able to cut it to 15 before Pinkerton finished the game up 18.

Coach’s quote: “It’s disappointing. We lacked effort, defensive intensity and offensive urgency. We got outworked and that is tough to deal with. We were missing Ava tonight who was out with an illness, but as a group we did not come ready to play and it is unfortunate. I was really happy for Sydney Plante, Elli Cox, Sofie Fune, Jaylyn Jefferson and Jess White, who helped us win the second half and cut the lead to 15 with about four minutes to go in the fourth. As a team, we need to look ourselves in the mirror and decide what our identity is going to be moving forward. A learning experience that we will grow from.” — Concord’s Tim LaTorra

Records: Pinkerton 7-2; Concord 6-4
