Girls’ Basketball

Goffstown 38, Concord 37

Key players: Concord – Elizabeth Blinn (15 points), Rose Layton (9 points), Elli Cox (rebounding), Jordyn Lengle (defense), Delaney Duford (defense)

Highlights: The Tide trailed 31-21 heading into the fourth quarter, but used a full court press to cut the deficit to three points with 15 seconds to go. Goffstown took away a 3-point shot from Concord’s Jaylyn Jefferson, forcing her drive to the basket for two points. The Tide couldn’t force a foul on the inbounds pass and ran out of time to complete the comeback. Concord played the Grizzlies even in the first quarter (12-12), but Goffstown pulled away for a 21-16 halftime lead.

Coach’s quote: “We have been dealing with a lot for a couple weeks between injuries, bringing players up, etc. To come out tonight and compete with this kind of effort with some of our leading scorers either out or injured, it was very encouraging. One of our struggles this season has been the second half. Tonight we were down 10 and came all the way back, something we have not been able to do this year. This is a step in the right direction.” – Concord’s Tim LaTorra

Records: Goffstown 4-5; Concord 3-5
