On Tuesday, Joe Biden said the U.S. Constitution is “always evolving.” Democrat FDR threatened to pack the court to make the Constitution say what he thought it should mean in the 1930s (welfare for all). Hillary Clinton called the U.S. Constitution “living and breathing” when seeking higher office for herself. This is no surprise of course, the U.S. Constitution’s primary purpose is to constitute us as a Republic of free states and to keep the federal hegemony over us in check.
Democrats support unlimited federal power with no oversight (see also, current COVID power abuses) so of course, seek to thwart those restraints. But the whims of authoritarian Democrats does not change the fact that the Constitution exists to restrict their ambitions and that it is immutable save through the Article 5 Constitutional Amendment process. It is not living, breathing, or evolving, no matter how much power mad Democrats wish it were. Notably today, Republicans should block any upcoming Supreme Court nominees sharing President Biden’s misconceptions about Constitutional law.
