The Supreme Court decision dismantling our right to abortion across the country is devastating. While I am grateful that abortion remains safe and legal until 24 weeks in New Hampshire, I’m reminded that just one election could change that. The future of access will depend upon each election. Our state has enjoyed a long bipartisan tradition of upholding privacy when it comes to personal medical decisions. Unfortunately, current legislative leadership in Concord has proven hostile to reproductive rights, posing the greatest threat to safe, legal abortion in decades. That is why it is critical New Hampshire takes action now to safeguard abortion access.

Granite Staters have already experienced the harm that anti-abortion lawmakers cause. Anti-abortion lawmakers led by Governor Chris Sununu and Senate President Chuck Morse led the adoption of New Hampshire’s first abortion ban in modern history last year. This year, extreme members of the New Hampshire Legislature refused to codify Roe v. Wade this session, which means New Hampshire remains the only state in New England without proactive protections for abortion rights. Abortion has always existed and will continue to exist. Abortion care is health care that needs to be accessible, funded, and supported. I’m urging you to vote for lawmakers that understand this and will act to protect and expand abortion access for all Granite Staters in 2022.
