Boys’ Hockey

Concord 2, Pinkerton 0

Key players: Concord  – Jack Shoemaker (goal), Trevor Brown (goal), Brooks Craigue (assist), Joey Tarbell (assist), AJ Dow (assist), Dawson Fancher (assist), Kalan Gaudreault (13 saves, 4th shutout of the season)

Highlights: After scoreless first period, Shoemaker scored on the power play from Tarbell and Craigue in the second period. Brown scored four minutes later from Fancher and Dow to make it 2-0.

Coach’s quote: “It was a hard fought game. Pinkerton played hard and their goalie played well. We are happy with the win. We get every team’s best effort so I thought our guys did a good job today.” – Concord’s Dunc Walsh

Boys’ Basketball

Winnacunnet 61, Concord 47

Key players: Winnacunnet – Jared Khalil (23 points), Tyson Khalil (20 points); Concord – Brett Tuttle (19 points), Japhet Nduwayo (10 points)

Highlights: The Tide led after the opening frame, 16-14, but Concord’s offense hit a wall in the second quarter and Winnacunnet took a 31-22 lead at the half. The Crimson Tide fought back in the third to cut the lead six points heading into the fourth, but again Concord’s offense went cold again and the Warriors capitalized on some defensive breakdowns.

Highlights: After trailing 30-28 at halftime, the Bears stormed ahead to close out a hard fought game, giving head coach David Smith his 627th career win, just one win shy of breaking the state’s all-time record for boys’ victories.

Lebanon 59, John Stark 50

Key players: John Stark – Aidan Harris (14 points, 6 rebounds), Logan Montgomery (12 points), Cedar Beaupre (5 points, 3 steals)

Highlights: The Generals cut into a double-digit Lebanon lead by playing hard throughout the game.

Highlights: The Cougars did very well defending and rebounding, and outscored the Bears 40-21 over the middle quarters. Eleven of 14 Kearsarge players made the scoring column.

Highlights: Kearsarge led 16-12 after the first quarter, but Winnisquam connected on four 3s in the second quarter and outscored the Cougars 29-13, which made the difference in an otherwise close game.

Coach’s quote: “Winnisquam is very talented, they have multiple players that can score, and are well-coached. With that said, we played them fairly close except for the second quarter that got away from us. If we score 55 points, that’s a game we need to win. Highlights: The Bears had a 28-12 lead at halftime, but couldn’t hit shots in the second half, allowing Kingswood to pick up its first win of the season.

John Stark 59, Lebanon 31

Key players: John Stark  – Avery Geaumont (22 points), Eleanor Girardet (21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists)

Highlights: The Generals led 34-12 at halftime, with Geaumont connecting on five 3s in the first half. Girardet was a great game down low and distributing the ball.
