Boys’ Soccer

Hillsboro-Deering 3, Conant 2

Key players: H-D – Mason Ferwerda (goal, assist), Brady Curley (goal, assist), Dylan Braun (goal) Mason Savoy (11 saves)

Highlights: After going down early, Hillsboro fought back to take the lead going into halftime. Conant tied up the game in the second half, but ultimately Braun’s free kick goal led the Hillcats.

Highlights: Lapierre scored in the eighth minute and Franke scored four minutes later to give the Bears an early 2-0 lead. Loto assisted on both of those goals and added one of her own with seven minutes left in the half to make it 3-0. Lapierre added two goals in the second half.

Highlights: The Hawks went down in the first half by falling asleep on defense, but Hopkinton tied it in the 45th minute off of a great header from a corner kick. Neither team found the net in double overtime.

Kearsarge 2, Bishop Brady 0

Key players: Kearsarge  – Maddie Thorp (goal), Ava Shapiro (goal), Jada Kendrigan (assist), Ellie Wimer (assist), Adara Boucher (16 saves)

Highlights: Kearsarge opened the game keeping possession in the Brady’s end and Thorp opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a shot from 20 yards out off a clearance pass from Kendrigan. Shapiro beat several defenders after receiving a through ball from Wimer to make it 2-0. Brady applied pressure in the second half but the Cougar defense dug in and kept the Giants off the board.

Highlights: The Generals got off to a good start, scoring two goals in the first quarter and taking a 3-0 lead into halftime in a rematch of the 2022 Division II state championship game.

Merrimack Valley 7, ConVal 2

Key players: MV – Jules Guertin (2 goals), Grace Thompson (2 goals), Abbey Thompson (2 goals), Hannah Butler (goal)

Highlights: The Pride controlled the majority of the game with 10 penalty corners to ConVal’s three. The Cougars tied the game, 1-1, in the first minute of the second quarter, but MV exploded offensively with three goals in the second quarter and two more in the third to pull away. ConVal put up one more goal within the first three minutes of the fourth.

All three teams should be in the top eight, which qualifies them for the state tournament next week at Sagamore-Hampton. It’s great to be in the tournament for the third year in a row.
