Letter: It’s the spending and borrowing

On Feb. 2, 2022, the national debt hit $30 trillion. Now, on Jan. 3, 2024, just 23 months later the national debt hit $34 trillion. Even Jerome Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve, says that this is “unsustainable.” Do we have a spending problem or what?
