Letter: A non-issue for presidential candidates

As the federal election approaches, I foresee the misinformation and outright lies regarding abortion will once again surface. Let’s set the record straight and put this issue to bed right now! Current NH state law prohibits abortion after 24 weeks (6 months) of pregnancy except when the mother’s health or life is in danger or there is a fatal fetal anomaly. One legislator stated, “There simply is no threat to abortion rights in this state, despite the never-ending political rhetoric to the contrary.”

The Supreme Court ruled this issue is to be decided by each state, as it should be. No president has control over the abortion issue. So before some media source, candidate or political party starts to stir up this issue for their political goals, we should all take a deep breath, reengage critical thinking skills, and know that this is a state issue and a non-issue for presidential candidates.
