Letter: Response to ‘Forms of racism and sexism today’

It’s not that Republicans are in a “panic” about Kamala Harris being a woman of color, it’s more that she’s not the best example out there. When she was elected as senator to California in 2017, she was touted as the first Indian-American senator to California (her mother being from India, father from Jamaica ). Kamala changes her identity to fit the vote she needs to catch.

Early in her tenure as VP I watched her give a speech to a group of Black women. She told them they had to stand up for their rights “as indigenous people of the United States.” The only indigenous people in our country are Native Americans. And she does cackle. You don’t have to be a middle-aged white Republican man to hear it. She may have fit the bill at the time for VP but be honest, do you really want her in charge?
