Letter: No billionaire tax cuts

According to the Forbes 2025 Global Billionaire list, 902 billionaires live in the United States. Elon Musk tops the list, with Jeff Bezos third with an estimated net worth of $215 billion. For context it would take 75 years of spending over 13 million dollars annually to disburse one billion dollars.

Forbes also reported the recent Bezos Venice wedding cost $20 million dollars, with costs including approximately $270,000 for water taxis and $900,000 for guest accommodations.

If passed by the Senate, President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” would lower taxes for billionaires and result in unprecedented reductions in Medicaid and food stamps. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated Medicaid would be reduced by 18% and food stamps by 20%, and eliminate recipients by 12 million and 2 million, respectively.

If you believe billionaires should not receive tax relief, voice your opinion to Senate Republican leaders. By doing so you will be joining the majority of Americans who do not support this bill. A mid June 2025 Fox News poll revealed American opposing it 59% to 38%.
