Thanks to generous contributions from numerous donors, the Gilmanton Year-Round Library Association board of directors announced that its closure will be of very short duration. It will reopen Saturday. Children’s programs will resume in May. The board is focused on developing a long-term plan to make the GYRL a sustainable resource for many years to come.
New Hampshire Children’s Trust Fund reminds people that today is Wear Blue Day. Take a stand against child abuse by wearing the color blue that day to spread awareness and fundraise for child abuse and neglect prevention during April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The YMCAs of New Hampshire held its first weekend in their annual New Hampshire Youth and Government Program involving 27 schools, 300 teens, school advisers and YMCA volunteers. The program is “Democracy must be learned by each generation” and gives high school students the opportunity to learn first-hand about state government through two weekends in March and April. The Model Legislature will be today and Saturday in Concord. Gov. Maggie Hassan will welcome delegates to the State House and they will debate some 120 bills they’ve prepared as part of the program.
