Shane Dawson threw five scoreless innings in his first Double-A start Tuesday to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 4-0 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Dawson allowed just three hits in his inaugural outing of 2016, and struck out four. New Hampshire (2-2). Rowdy Tellez drove in the game’s first run on a first-inning double, and made it 2-0 in the sixth when his sacrifice fly plated Jon Bert. Matt Dean added a solo home run in the seventh inning, before Melky Mesa rounded out the game’s scoring with an RBI single in the eighth.
Berti scored three of his team’s four runs, and a career best with stole three bases.
New Hampshire will round out its series with the Yard Goats (4-2) today at 1:05 p.m. Right hander Jeremy Gabryszwski will throw for the Fisher Cats, while fellow righty Zach Jemiloa will get the start for Hartford.
