Ayotte’s admission

I wrote Sen. Ayotte, complaining about her stand against hearings on President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court. She replied, “I believe strongly that the people of New Hampshire must have a say in this extraordinarily important debate.”

As I understand it, Sen. Ayotte was elected by the citizens of New Hampshire precisely in order to be our voice in important national debates. So as long as she (and our other elected representatives) do their jobs, the people of New Hampshire do have a say in this debate.

How can I read her reply other than as an admission that she is not capable of doing her job?
