The Manchester Monarchs moved to the brink of elimination, falling to the Adirondack Thunder, 4-2, on Saturday to trail the best-of-7 series, 3-0.
The Thunder jumped out to an early lead when Mitchell Heard scored just 40 seconds into the game.
Maxim Kitsyn pulled the Monarchs even at 9:51, but Heard scored again just four minutes later.
Ryan Lomberg scored on the power play to put the Thunder ahead by two goals in the second period.
The Monarchs got one back when Matt Fornataro scored the Monarchs’ first power-play goal of the series midway through the third, but the Thunder sealed the victory when Greg Wolfe scored an empty-netter with 15.2 seconds to play.
Game 4 is Monday night at 7 in Glens Falls, N.Y.
