PEMBROKE – Ronald David Langevin Sr., 84, of Pembroke passed away at Concord Hospice House on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, surrounded by his family after a period of failing health.
The son of the late H. Ralph and Mildred (Beard) Langevin, Ron was born in Concord on January 20, 1932. He grew up on the Heights in Concord with his parents and six brothers. He graduated from Concord High School in 1950. Service to their country was important in the Langevin family, and like his six brothers, Ron was no exception. After high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for the next 22 years. After retiring from the Air Force, Ron began a second career with the U.S. Postal Services and retired as a manager of distribution operations in Manchester in 1988.
Although Ron had traveled all over the United States and the world during his career in the Air Force, he always called New Hampshire home. Bow Lake was his favorite place on earth and his happiest times were spent on the lake with his family – swimming, boating, fishing, sitting in the shade reading, and watching the loons and eagles.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers, Eddie, Ray, Willie and Henry.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Claire (Gelinas); his children, Joyce St. Onge and her husband, Richard, of Concord, Ronald Langevin, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of The Villages, Fla., Barbara Scarlett and her husband, Don, of Epsom and Elizabeth Langevin of Jacksonville, Ark.; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Norm Langevin of Florida and Walt Langevin of Arkansas.
Out of respect for Ron’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private. A celebration of Ron’s life is planned for later this summer at his home on Bow Lake.
For those who wish, Ron’s family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
