Concord Community Music School students were recently honored with acceptance to two competitive performances.

Eighteen students earned places in the All State Music Festival, which was held April 7 to 9 at Concord and Bow high schools.

All State is an annual music festival for high school students, sponsored by the New Hampshire Music Educators’ Association. In November, students across the Granite State participated in a highly competitive audition process.

Selected for orchestra were Fiona MacWhinnie, Camden Ward, Peter Bynum, Maria Emmons, James Jensen, Maggie Jensen and Miranda Kaplan. Band members were Kai Darrow, Mya Hollins, Lina Patel, and Allison Tessier. In guitar orchestra was Ian Dillon. Vocalists were Della Dolcino, Nathan Smith, Cassidy Donohoe, Emma Bradley, Hannah Miller and Nicholas Briccetti.

Another group of students, the Purple Finches youth chorus, were selected to participate in the competitive Organization of American Kodaly Educators National Conference Choirs in Long Beach, Calif.

Students William Veenstra, Tessa Foley, Amelia Smith, Harriet Pearce, Sophia Isaak, Katie Mitchell, and Jordan Cromwell performed in the finale concert at the OAKE National Conference, a four-day event that brings together teachers, conductors and clinicians from across the country. Students have the opportunity to connect with fellow highly-motivated youth vocalists and be directed by internationally renowned conductors.
