New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman recently underwent minor surgery on his foot recently, according to ESPN.
Edelman, who was spotted in a walking boot at the Patriots’ practice facility Wednesday, originally broke his foot in November and missed the final seven games of the regular season.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport said the most recent procedure was to reinsert a screw from a past procedure. It was originally reported that the 2009 seventh-round pick out of Kent State would not need a second surgery.
Edelman is still expected to join Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, Mitchell, Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Nate Washington and the rest of New England’s receiving corps at training camp, barring any major setbacks.
Edelman has 21 career touchdown catches, seven of which came on just 61 receptions last season. He amassed a career-high 1,056 yards on 105 receptions in 2013.
