The definition of bias: Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person or group compared with another, usually in a way that is unfair.
I am so sick of seeing stories containing Owen Labrie, who broke the law by taking advantage of a child and was convicted for it and now trying to wiggle his way out. Taking advantage of an underage young girl, who is probably away from her parents eyes for the first time is not a good thing and that is why they made laws against it. He was convicted of breaking that law.
Now his complaint is based on the theory that other young men were conducting themselves in this manner as well. Why were they not charged and convicted as he was? Well, maybe they should be, but this was a young woman who stood up for her rights. Wasn’t there a bias against young girls who attended that academy in search of an education as well a bit of independence. A dangerous place for young girls, if you were to ask me.
It was a heroic act for this young girl to stand up and say, “How dare you do this to me.”
