Rally falls short

For the second night in a row the New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped a home game to the Hartford Yard Goats.

Hartford held on for a 5-3 win despite a late rally from the Fisher Cats (19-21), who have now dropped two in a row and four of the last five.

New Hampshire starter Luis Santos was tagged with his first loss this season after giving up four runs on seven hits over six innings with two strikeouts and two walks.

David Dahl and Ryan McMahon hit back-to-back home runs for Hartford (26-15) in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead.

New Hampshire’s Jorge Saez hit a home run, while Dwight Smith Jr. and Christian Lopes also drove in runs. Rowdy Tellez snapped a four-game hit streak.
