Donald Trump will target presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a speech Monday at Saint Anselm College, supporters said, in his first visit to New Hampshire since winning the state’s February primary.
“He is supposed to be giving a speech on Hillary Clinton, on her record,” said Republican state Rep. Al Baldasaro, a Trump campaign adviser for veterans issues.
Trump hinted at the speech earlier this week, saying Tuesday he’s planning a “major speech on probably Monday of next week” about “all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons.”
Both he and Clinton are pivoting to the general election, after the former secretary of state secured enough delegate support this week to become her party’s presidential nominee.
Trump will speak at the Goffstown college at 2:30 p.m, according to the campaign. The presumptive GOP nominee will also hold an evening rally at Great Bay Community College on Monday, and attend private fundraisers, Baldasaro said. The campaign did not respond to request for comment.
New Hampshire has just four electoral votes, but is expected to be one of several battle ground states in the presidential contest this year.
The Granite State helped legitimize Trump’s candidacy by giving the businessman his first win in a presidential nominating contest. Trump drew more than 35 percent of votes cast in the first-in-the-nation Republican primary, trouncing other GOP candidates by double-digit margins.
Clinton lost the New Hampshire Democratic primary to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, by a 60 percent to 39 percent vote margin. Her campaign hasn’t released any public details about upcoming trips to New Hampshire.
Regarding Trump’s upcoming state visit, Clinton campaign spokeswoman Julie McClain said “no speech can distract from the fact that he is unfit and unqualified to be president.”
