Fund Franklin schools

On June 6, dozens of people appeared before the Franklin City Council and Mayor Merrifield in support of a fully funded school budget.

There is no need to list the multitude of ways that any less than a fully funded school budget will hurt the city of Franklin and its most precious resource, its children, now and in the future.

There is also no need to argue or discuss the failed fiscal policy of Franklin. The council and mayor have heard the people who elected them. It is time for action. It is not time for political pandering by foregoing a token salary as a โ€œshow of support.โ€

I call on the mayor and council to bring a plan that fully funds the school budget, even if that means making difficult and politically unpopular decisions. Anything less and they have failed to represent the best interests of Franklin and the will of the people.

Mr. Mayor and Honorable Councilpersons, New Hampshire is watching, your city is watching. Do the right thing.
