The New Hampshire Fisher Cats couldn’t hold on to an early lead and fell victim to a big inning, losing 7-2 to the Akron RubberDucks on Friday night.
The Fisher Cats (29-37) fell to 1-3 on their longest road trip of the season after being on the wrong side of a five-run second inning. The RubberDucks (39-29) snapped a 12-game skid.
Dwight Smith, Jr. extended his hitting streak to 14 games and his on-base streak to 23 games, both season highs for any Fisher Cats player.
New Hampshire starter Shane Dawson was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks in 1 innings.
Christian Lopes drove in two runs for the Fisher Cats, who play Akron again tonight at 7:05.
