William Steven Kulbacki

Pensacola, FL – Educator, devoted catholic, lifelong learner, loving family man

William “Bill” Steven Kulbacki of Pensacola Florida passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026. Born in Hillsborough New Hampshire in 1932, the ninth of ten children to Leopold “Bill” Kulbacki and Agnes (Rumak) Kulbacki. A 1949 graduate of Hillsborough High School, 1955 graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in geology, and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

After college Bill worked for Sanborn Map Company creating fire insurance maps throughout New England and New York. To be closer to his family he began a career as an educator first at Antrim High School, then at Hopkinton High School where he taught science for 32 years. He also taught geology at New England and Hawthorne College’s.

Bill received a NSF scholarship to further his studies attending Earlham, Dartmouth, and Shenandoah Colleges. He earned an MS in Education from Keene State College and an MS in Botany from Washington State University.

Bill was active in his community serving on the Deering Select Board and Conservation Commission, as president of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church council, extraordinary minister, and confirmation teacher. Upon his retirement he moved to Pensacola Florida so he wouldn’t have to shovel snow anymore, where he continued to be active at the Basilica of St. Michael as an extraordinary minister and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He regularly volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store where he was the “fix it guy”.

He was a gentle man, avid reader, had a dry wit, and polymath. Even up to his passing could converse fluently on geology, biology, botany, the geography of New England and New York, and the many trips he made throughout the country with his family. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend.

Bill leaves behind his wife Frances (Daigle) Kulbacki of Pensacola. He is predeceased by his siblings (Dorothy, Lydia, Fred, Etta, Evelynn, Ted, Michael, twin sister Thalia, and Kathy), wife Alice (Griffen) Kulbacki, their daughters Carol and Nancy, and survived by their sons Peter and wife Babben (West) Kulbacki of Enfield, NH, Jess Kulbacki and Thomas Kulbacki of Hillsborough, NH. Fran’s daughters Jennifer of Pensacola and Julie Duncan and her children Blake and Trevor of St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by his grandchildren Amanda and husband Edward Dunbar, Alec Kulbacki, Todd and wife Gabby Gordon, Brittney Kulbacki Hall and son Chase, Spencer and wife Cheryl Kulbacki, Braeden Kulbacki and Tryder Kulbacki and numerous nieces and nephews.

We will remember his deep love of Christ, family, telling the best stories and a wisdom that only comes with 93 years of both tremendous joys, and sorrows. For all of us, 93 years just wasn’t enough time with one of the world’s best people. The world is truly better because of him. We will miss him.

His funeral will be held at the Basilica of St. Michael in Pensacola; interment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hillsborough at the convenience of his family. To receive updates on services and share stories about Bill go to: BillKulbacki.com
