Pittsfield students, with the guidance of art teachers William Mitchell and Lisa Stevens and Family and Consumer Science teacher James Cobern, raised $809 for the Pittsfield Food Pantry by organizing an Empty Bowls event.

Handmade ceramic bowls crafted during art classes and at community pottery sessions were sold. Students made and served all the soups, breads and desserts enjoyed by the public at the May 24 dinner, where the bowls were displayed and sold.

Empty Bowls mission is to raise awareness of hunger issues in our communities. The project was supported by a generous grant from New Hampshire Charitable Foundations and Globe Industries to enlist local potter Teresa Taylor of Salty Dog Pottery to work with Pittsfield students.
