GILFORDMotorcyclist killed in head-on crash

Gilford police said a motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision in town.

Authorities said the motorcyclist was headed south on the Laconia Bypass when it struck a northbound vehicle just after 4 p.m. Friday.

WMUR reported that the road was closed for about six hours while the investigation was underway. They say the driver of the car was not injured.

The fatal crash occurred as Laconia Motorcycle Week entered its final weekend. The name of the motorcyclist is not being released pending notification of family members.

The investigation is ongoing.
