Lake Hosts are needed to perform boat inspections at Turee Pond this summer. The Lake Host Program is a courtesy boat inspection program administered by NH LAKES in cooperation with local groups to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species, plants and animals from one body of water to another.
LakeHosts are trained to educate visiting boaters about aquatic invasive species, conduct brief boater surveys, and conduct courtesy boat and trailer inspections. There are paid weekend positions and volunteer weekday positions. The minimum age is 18. For more information visit nhlakes.org/education/lake-host or contact Stacy Luke at info@merrimackccd.org or 254-9502.
Additional scholarships are available for area youth to attend a summer ACE Academy session at WinnAero at Laconia Airport, thanks to a recent donation of $2,350 from the Granite State Airport Management Association. The sessions are taught by certified teachers and licensed pilots to youth in the elementary, middle and high school age groups. Parents or students interested in learning about the ACE Academies and scholarships should email Dan Caron at dwcaron@hotmail.com.
