Behind a brilliant start from Casey Lawrence, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (34-44) took down the Binghamton Mets (33-44) and moved into fourth place in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division with a 4-2 win Thursday.
Lawrence (3-6) held the B-Mets to one run on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts. He allowed a pair of singles through the first six innings before surrendering a base hit and an RBI double in the seventh.
One night after scoring a season-high 14 runs, the Fisher Cats offense provided just enough run support Thursday. With six extra-base hits, including two doubles each from Jason Leblebijian and Christian Lopes, New Hampshire opened a 4-0 lead by the seventh inning.
With doubleheaders scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 5:35 p.m., the Fisher Cats and B-Mets are scheduled to play five more times before the end of the weekend.
