Piccola Opera will present “An Evening of Purcell & Puccini” on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium. The performance will present two one act operas, Dido & Aeneas, by Purcell and Suor Angelica, by Puccini. These operas will be presented fully staged with orchestra.
Many of the performers in these well-loved operas are finalist winners of last fall’s Piccola Opera Competition. “These two operas offer many roles to the singers who competed last fall. We wanted to offer an opportunity for these emerging singers to obtain a role for their resumes. We look forward to bringing these high caliber young opera singers to Concord,” said Jane Cormier, artistic director of Piccola Opera.
“An Evening of Purcell & Puccini” will be conducted by Carlos Martinez with orchestral players coming from New England Conservatory in Boston.
Tickets are available on the Piccola Opera website and at the door on the night of the performances. To purchase tickets or to obtain more information about Piccola Opera, visit piccolaopera.net.
