With oil prices falling back down to about $40 a barrel after an early summer spike, gasoline prices are also falling in New Hampshire, down 3 cents over the past week, 14 cents over the past month and 49 cents over the past year.
Average retail gasoline prices in New Hampshire averaged $2.06 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 875 gas outlets in New Hampshire. This compares with the national average of $2.12 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy’s historical data, gasoline prices on Aug. 8 in New Hampshire have ranged widely over the last five years:

“Government (Energy Information Agency) data last week showed a sizable draw on gasoline inventory followed by a strong jobs report, with new jobs for July reaching 255,000. And consequently, (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil ended the week nearly $3 higher than where it began,” said Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
