MANCHESTER – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats swept a doubleheader with the Binghamton Mets Tuesday.

Jon Berti hit a walk-off solo homer in the eighth inning, as the Fisher Cats defeated the Mets 5-4 in the second game.

Berti also came through in the first game, hitting a run-scoring single in the first inning of a 4-3 win.

The single by Berti, part of a four-run inning, gave the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead before Dwight Smith hit a three-run home run later in the inning.

In the second game, the Fisher Cats tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh when Jorge Saez hit a solo home run.

Berti was a double short of the cycle, scoring two runs in the win.

Phillip Evans homered and doubled twice, scoring two runs for the Mets. Matt Oberste singled three times.

After Binghamton scored two runs in the first game, the Mets cut further into the deficit in the fifth inning when Stefan Sabol hit a solo home run.

New Hampshire right-hander John Straka (1-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on five hits over six innings. Opposing starter Rafael Montero (3-2) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up four runs and six hits over six innings. Chris Smith struck out the side for his 13th save of the season.
