About 100 New Hampshire firefighters will deploy west Saturday to help in the fight against wildfires there.
Douglas Miner, a state forest ranger, said the firefighters will fly out of Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and land in Boise, Id., where they’ll be reassigned to various other fire areas.
On Thursday, Miner did not have a completed list of the state agencies that will lend their support. He said crews will first assemble at the U.S. Army Reserve in Londonderry before flying out.
Concord Fire Chief Daniel Andrus said no one from the city’s department is participating in the mission.
It’s unclear at this time whether local firefighters will join the thousands of emergency personnel on the scene of a raging wildfire burning in Southern California. That fire, which is burning just east of Los Angeles, has forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate and swallowed up many homes.
