The Squam Lakes Association will hold a trail building and maintenance outing Sept. 5 at Whitten Woods in Ashland. Meet at the trailhead at 9 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. You do not need to commit to the whole time. Bring extra layers of clothes, water, snacks, work gloves and sturdy footwear. If you have tools or a first aid kit, you’re welcome to bring those, too.
Projects include cutting a trail to the North Peak, lopping off overhanging branches, removing blowdowns, cleaning and building waterbars, putting up blazes and attaching new signage.
