MANCHESTER, N.H. – Mauricio Dubon homered and singled, driving home three runs and scoring a couple as the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-2, on Sunday.
Aneury Tavarez homered and singled for Portland.
Up 1-0 in the second, Portland extended its lead when Cole Sturgeon hit an RBI single and then scored on a three-run home run by Dubon.
The Sea Dogs later tacked on a run in both the sixth and eighth innings. In the sixth, Cody Decker hit a solo home run, while Tavarez hit a solo home run in the eighth.
Portland right-hander Mitch Atkins (6-7) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on eight hits over 6 innings. Opposing starter Wilmer Font (3-2) took the loss after giving up six runs and eight hits over six innings.
For the Fisher Cats, Dwight Smith reached base three times.
