The third annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes campaign against domestic violence will hold its signature event Wednesday on Main Street.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., a parade of men and boys will walk a mile in high-heeled shoes to raise money for the Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire and awareness about the issue.

The unusual spectacle “gets the community to talk about something that’s really difficult to talk about: domestic and sexual violence,” according to a press release on the crisis center’s website.

Everyone is invited to participate. The proceeds will benefit people affected by sexual and domestic violence in Merrimack County.

Registration is available online at cccnh.org/walk-a-mile-in-her-shoes.html, or beginning at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday nearby the arches in front of the State House.

As of Monday afternoon, more than $32,000 of the $50,000 goal had already been raised, according to the crisis center’s website. Entry is $35 for adults, $10 for children 6 to 17 years old and free for children 5 and under.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of the State House.
