The onset of winter has put an end to leaf collection in Concord before some rural areas could be reached.
Crews returned to leaf collection efforts even after early snowstorms, but snow and ice have made it impossible to continue, Concord General Services wrote in a statement Monday.
“Fortunately, crews were able to pass through most of the city’s residential streets once to collect leaves before the weather changed,” the statement said. “There are still some locations in the rural areas of the city that crews unfortunately did not have time to reach.”
Three crews began collecting leaves Oct. 31, but they’ll focus now on plowing and other winter operations.
The city’s Earth Materials Recycling Center is closed for the season and will open in the spring in time for spring leaf collection.
