Pontine Theater will present an original stage adaption of Sarah Orne Jewett’s Dunnet Landing Stories featuring five sketches.
Using its signature elements, hand-carved wooden puppets and two-dimensional toy figures, Marguerite Mathews and Greg Gathers will present an homage to Jewett’s short story collection The Country of the Pointed Firs.
The action follows the arc of the seasons, summer through spring, and the structure gives rise to the archetypal figures appropriate to the various seasons.
Performances will be at the Strawbery Banke Museum’s Stoodley Tavern in Portsmouth on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Feb. 12.
Tickets are $24 and can be purchased at the door or online at pontine.org.
