In Scotland, a test of strength is lifting big rocks.

An organization that teaches about Scottish customs and culture, NHSCOT, will screen Stoneland on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord.

Lifting stones, formed by wind and river erosion, can be found across the Highlands of Scotland where humans tested strength by carrying and throwing them.

The practice continues and many lifters travel to Scotland to test their mettle.

After viewing the film, the audience can meet with Scottish historian David Webster, NHSCOT’s Bill Crawford of Concord and Scottish stone lifter Martin Jancsics.

Tickets are $5 in advance from nhscot.org or $7 at the door.

NHSCOT is the group that organizes the annual fall New Hampshire Highland Games and Festival.
