The Boston Celtics will hit the road for a two-game trip but they will be without star point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is staying in Boston with a bone bruise on his right knee.

The Celtics (43-25), coming off a win over Minnesota, announced Thomas’s injury Thursday, saying he will miss Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets and a matinee Sunday at Philadelphia.

The Celtics have seen their original starting unit together for only 334 minutes over 28 games this season and are 21-7 with that unit at 100 percent.

“We haven’t been together that much,” Thomas said. “Hopefully everyone will stay healthy and we can finish the season off right.”

The third-year Celtic is averaging a conference-leading 29.2 points per game this season and Boston is just 1-3 without the two-time All-Star on the court.
