The Concord Boys’ & Girls Club Thunder third- and fourth-grade girls’ team (pictured above) fell to top-ranked Bedford in the MSBL championship, 15-8. The Thunder were unable to capitalize after playing great defense against the highest-scoring team in the league, but did win the Bow and Merrimack tournaments. Senior Allison Granata became the fourth woman in New England College lacrosse history to reach 200 career points, scoring three goals and adding three assists in NEC’s 20-1 rout of Thomas College. Sophomore Tara Bainbridge broke the program record for goals scored in a single game, finding the back of the net nine times.
Bow’s Devin Calkins, a junior on the Southern New Hampshire University men’s lacrosse team, recorded an assist in a 10-9 victory over top ranked Le Moyne.
Laconia’s Andrew Salta, a member of the Plymouth State baseball team, recorded two hits and scored a run in the Panthers’ 10-9 loss to Johns Hopkins.
Senior Samantha Toscano and freshman Julia Cormier, both of Northwood, recorded top three finishes for the Franklin Pierce women’s track and field team at the Wesleyan Spring Classic. Toscano finished second in the long jump (5.04 meters) and third in the 100-meter dash (13.64 seconds). Cormier finished second in the 5,000 meters (20:02.29).
14U Plex softball team is looking for one more player to round out its roster. The team is coached by Stacy Seidner and Jen Boyden. Both coaches played and coached at the collegiate level and are looking for girls trying to improve their skills, game strategy and overall strength and conditioning. John Stark Spring Sports Parent/Athlete Meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. in the gym. After a brief presentation by the Athletic Director, parents and athletes will be sent to various classrooms to meet with the coach. All athletes and at least one parent/guardian is expected to attend. Culture of Sports conference hosted by NHTI Sports Management Club is on April 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include keynote speaker Jamie Staton from WMUR, plus Monitor Sports Editor Tim O’Sullivan and others. The conference is for sports-minded professionals from every level including sports management majors, coaches, aspiring athletic directors and sports executives. UNH field hockey has announced two April clinics and tournament dates. The U14/U16 and U19 high school and club team clinic and tournament will be held April 9 and the U16/U19 team clinic and tournament is April 23. Teams can register directly for either event by emailing UNH assistant Coach Ross Gorham at ross.gorham@unh.edu. Team entry fee is $300 per team. UNH women’s lacrosse summer camp will be held June 26-28. The camp is open to girls entering grades 6-12 in the 2017-18 academic year. There are commuter and overnight options, both of which include meals provided at UNH dining facilities. The overnight also includes housing in UNH dormitories. Cost is $375 for the commuter option and $450 for overnight campers. There is a group/team discount available for overnight campers. UNH field hockey summer camps are now accepting registrations for three 2017 camps: session I (June 28-July 1), session II (July 5-8) and a youth clinic (July 6-7). Session I and II are open to junior high and high school students (as of fall 2017). There are overnight ($475) and commuter ($375) options for both sessions. The youth clinic will be held from 9-11 a.m. and is open to ages 5-12. The cost is $35 per day or $60 for both days. UNH women’s soccer camps are now open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Each day runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year).
