Junior Elinor Purrier won the 1,500 meters in a program-record time of 4:14.48 to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s track and field team at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. Purrier also ran with teammates Sarah Keiran, Shannon Murdock and Danielle Gajewski on the record-breaking 4×1,500 relay. The relay’s time of 18:19.46 was 30 seconds ahead of the second-place team. Purrier currently holds 10 UNH records. Murdock also finished second in the 3,000 and Jeannette Mara finished fifth in the high jump. The Wildcats tied for eighth out of 45 teams in the two-day event.
Brett Hoerner, John Cox, Jacob Kittredge and William Ulrich won the distance medlay relay in 10:1.10 at the Colonial Relays. Kittredge and Ulrich also finished sixth and seventh in the 800. The UNH men’s track and field team finished in 21st overall out of 45 teams at the two-day event.
Carly Wooters scored with 4:52 remaining to lift the UNH women’s lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over Vermont for its first win of the season. Wooter (two goals), Krissy Schafer (three goals, assist), Devon Croke (goal, two assists), Marissa Gurello (two goals) and Anna Vogt (goal, assist) scored multiple points for the Wildcats. UNH is now 1-10 and 1-1 in America East. Vermont is 1-11 .
The St. Paul’s School boys’ varsity tennis team fell to Phillips Exeter, 5-4. William Yee and Spencer Rowley each won their singles matches and teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles. Rohan Gudivaka added a singles victory for St. Paul’s.
