NOTES: On paper, the Coe-Brown boys are the favorites to win the D-II title. The Bears boast the most balanced team they’ve had in recent years with qualifiers in all 18 events and the ability to score in most of them. The Bears are especially strong in the middle distance and distance events and in the throwing events. The Merrimack Valley boys are also in the hunt for a solid finish. The Pride have high seeds in the hurdles and high jump and will need strong performances in those events. MV is seeded to score in all three relay events. The MV girls are in a group of six teams with a shot at the team title. The Pride’s finish will largely depend on how well Schoffield can do in multiple distance events and how Covell fares in the hurdles. Like the boys, the girls should also be supported by strong relays. The Coe-Brown girls could post a top 10 finish with some points in the distance events and throws.

NOTES: Several local teams are expected to be at the top of the team standings on the boys’ side. Belmont, Inter-Lakes and Kearsarge are the top three contenders. Belmont won the 18-team Wilderness Championships a week ago are the slight favorites. The Raiders are the most balanced of the three teams that can score in most events while Kearsarge will need big points in the pole vault and distance events if the Cougars are to win their fourth title in five years. Inter-Lakes is expected to do well in the throws and jumps. All three teams have strong relays and could be what makes the difference. Bow and Newfound also could potentially crack into the top five. The girls’ side is a little less crowded with Monadnock as the clear favorites to win a fifth-straight title with Bow and White Mountains as the most likely contenders to dethrone the Huskies. Bow will once again depend on Biron to do well in multiple events. Biron won three events and scored 38 points to lead the Falcons to third place last year and is seeded to do so again. The Falcons also have strong group of sprinters that should do well in the relays and short distances. Gilford and Inter-Lakes are also top five contenders.
