Middle school results
The No. 3 Hopkinton Middle School baseball team beat No. 2 Wilton, 7-2, in the semifinals of the Tri County League playoffs. The Hawks got six strong innings from Max Aframe and then had Bryce Charron close it out. Hopkinton opened the game up with a five-run second inning with hits from Owen O’Brien, Parker Martel and Peyton Marshall, who had three on the day. On the defensive end, Hunter Boissy, Jack Morrall and Ryan Graham played well in the field. The Hawks will be playing in the championship on Tuesday.
In AAA softball action, Hopkinton A-Market beat Hooksett Sol Beso Day Spa. A-Market was led by the pitching of Shaylee Murdough, defense from Kaelyn Branham and hits from Reese Bove. Sol Beso was led by a run from Tiya Edsall and two hits from Madison Cunha.
In Senior Babe Ruth softball action, Hopkinton Banks beat Suncook Speedy Printing, 15-6. Hopkinton was led by hits from Maddy Follansbee, Jordyn Barrett and Blake Licata. Suncook was led by the hitting of Natasha Colman and great defense behind the plate by Chantal Mainville.
Hooksett Sol Beso Day Spa beat Vermette Concord National on a walk-off hit from Olivia Fahnestock that plated Tia Edsall with the winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Wren and Farley Amrol provided solid defense for Vermette Concord National and Sadie Witham helped her team with a nice hit.
Bank of NH defeated Brine’s Team Sales, 7-6 on a walk off hit by Levi Madison. Josh Turant pitched a solid game for Bank of NH. Alex Lacen and Will McDevitt had strong offensive performances in the win. Nolan Wolff and Deagan Hines pitched well for Brine’s.
The Concord Crush U10 girls defeated Manchester, 11-3. The Crush defense was anchored by Lexi Magee and Mika Taylor. Brianna Blake and Maddie Short scored goals and led the offense.
Beaver Meadow beat Nippo Lake, 10-2, in its first match of the season.
The Tilton School varsity baseball team has elected two captains for next year, and both are local. Tilton’s Trevor Frederick batted .385 as the starting center fielder this spring and was 3-1 as a pitcher with three shutouts. Gilford’s Cole Winkelmann batted .412, led the team in RBI (17) and was an excellent defensive catcher.
The Bow High spring athletic awards banquet will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. The BBQ is free for athletes and donations are accepted for parents and siblings. The award presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
University of New Hampshire cross country and track standout Laura Rose Donegan was named the America East Woman of the Year. Donegan is the first Wildcat to win either the Woman of the Year or Man of the Year honors for the league.

Jim Kaufman retirement party to celebrate the Bow High School Athletic Director, who is retiring after 20 years as Bow High School’s first athletic director, will be held on June 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Town Hall at 91 Bow Center Road. Event is open to the public.

Concord Crew is offering a learn-to-row program for middle school and high school students. No experience is needed. Session 1 is June 26-July 20 and Session 2 is July 24-August 17. Off-ice hockey training with Bow High coach and UNH hockey alum Tim Walsh will begin June 15 in Bow. This is an eight week program that focuses on building hockey specific muscle groups, speed, power, flexibility and endurance. This program is open to players from all communities. Pembroke tennis lessons are being offered by the Pembroke Recreation Department on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 19-July 19. Juniors in grades 3 and under will go from 4-4:45 p.m. and grades 4-8 will run from 5-6 p.m. Adult lessons will run from 6:15-7:15 p.m. The cost for junior is $35 (resident) and $45 (non-resident and for adults it’s $40 (resident) and $50 (non-resident. UNH women’s lacrosse summer camp will be held June 26-28. The camp is open to girls entering grades 6-12 in the 2017-18 academic year. There are commuter and overnight options. UNH field hockey summer camps are now accepting registrations for three 2017 camps: session I (June 28-July 1), session II (July 5-8) and a youth clinic (July 6-7). Session I and II are open to junior high and high school students (as of fall 2017). There are overnight ($475) and commuter ($375) options for both sessions. UNH women’s soccer camps are now open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Each day runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year).
