More to the story

The “Granite State Stories” article headlined “New Hampshire is 9th state to ratify the U.S. Constitution” (Sunday Monitor Senior Living, July 23) fails to mention the reason New Hampshire finally agreed to ratify. It did so with the understanding that New Hampshire could leave the union if at a later date the state decided it no longer wished to belong. In 1861, New Hampshire joined a war because the Southern states were trying to do exactly that!
